Field Biologist Positions available on seasonal or as-needed/part-time basis for various projects throughout Southern California and Southern Nevada

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to conduct surveys in rough terrain and/or weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat) in a team or independently
  • Demonstrated field experience with biological assessments, sensitive species protocol surveys, habitat assessments, wildlife identification, plant identification, and compliance monitoring
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated, team-player
  • Experience with the following species is desired: desert tortoise, Mohave ground squirrel, burrowing owl, nesting birds, least Bell’s vireo, and special status plants
  • Residents of southern CA or southern NV, or plans to relocate
  • Ability to be flexible with changing tasks
  • Willingness to work on weekends, as-needed
  • Ability to hike at minimum 10 miles a day
  • Willingness to travel 75-100% of the time, as-needed for projects
  • Can lift up to 35 lbs
  • Good driving record

Education: B.S. in Biology, Ecology, Environment, or similar degree

Experience: Three years plus. Entry-level with, at minimum, demonstrated volunteer or course experience also considered

Rate: $20-$45/ hour, depending on experience
