Ironwood conducts focused surveys for threatened and endangered plant and wildlife species throughout California. We provide a wide spectrum of surveys including:

  • Habitat assessments
  • Vegetation community maps
  • Botanical inventories
  • Nesting birds
  • Presence-absence
  • Small mammal trapping
  • Jurisdictional wetland delineation

Ironwood biologists have extensive experience studying desert tortoises within the Mojave and Colorado Deserts in California, Nevada, and Arizona. We have conducted surveys for numerous other special-status species including Mohave ground squirrel, least Bell’s vireo, red-legged frog, western burrowing owl, and fairy shrimp. Ironwood provides jurisdictional water and wetland delineations pursuant to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and California Department of Fish and Wildlife guidelines. We remain abreast of recent cases in environmental law that influence protocols and procedures for biological studies.
